Hawthorne Come On Over
With the retirement of Hawthorne Rush from stud duties last year we started our new Stallion at Stud in Hawthorne Come On Over – by the champion racehorse, Falvelon and out of what we believe has been our best horse, Hawthorne Shania.

Hawthorne Shania
‘The best horse I have ever ridden’ - Kent Wells
Hawthorne Shania is by Hawthorne Rush out of Sue Anne. With a long list of accolades including best horse awards and representing her state at Polocrosse, she was ridden by the whole family over her 8 year career. -

Hawthorne Rush
Sired by Haydon Rush out of Hunter View Trigger, Hawthorne Rush went on to sire many champions both on and off the polocrosse field.
The prefix ‘Hawthorne’ has been synonymous on the polocrosse fields in Australia since Kent registered his first Australian Stock Horse. Starting small with one mare, the numbers grew as Kent and Libby acquired their first ASH Stallion – Haydon Rush, with Charles Brook in the early 1990’s. Unfortunately, due to injury Haydon Rush didn’t sire many Hawthorne Horses, however a collection of frozen semen produced ‘Hawthorne Rush’ who has sired many champions on and off the polocrosse field.
Kent, Libby, Anthony and Sophie are all passionate about horses and in particular polocrosse horses. The Hawthorne horses have become family horses in many stables over the years providing safe but athletic competitors for the very young to the older more sedate riders.
We believe in breeding from mares that have performed at a high level that produce foals that are naturally athletic. Some of our favorites from the brook mare paddock include: Hunter View Trigger (mother of Hawthorne Rush), Wiljohn Muffin, Sue Anne, Hawthorne Shania, Hawthorne Belle and now we have moved onto the next generation in Hawthorne Matilda, Hawthorne Pria and Hawthorne Charlene.

“Hawthorne Shania - well what can I say, possibly the best horse I have ever ridden or played.”
Shania is by Hawthorne Rush and out of Sue Anne. Sue Anne was a very good polocrosse mare exceptionally bred, she represented Queensland played by Mark O’Leary and Trish Shepherd. Gypsy Lell the great grand dam of Belle and Shania was probably one of the best mares I have ever seen play polocrosse. She was played by Reg Eckhardt in the mid 1970’s during Warwick’s golden years of Polocrosse. Shania started playing Polocrosse as a 4 year old and won Champion Horse at only her 3rd tournament. She went on to win SEQ & Queensland ASH Rookie Horse of the year in 2008. Shania won numerous best Horse Awards including Champion Horse at Quirindi & Warwick Rosebowl in 2011. Shania represented Queensland and South East Queensland ridden by Kent, Anthony and Sophie over an 8 year playing career.
